We wanted to get Isaac a bike this year for his birthday and so I tried to go cheaper on the budget this year for his party. Also… 2 babies and a crazy work season may have helped the casual decision.
Last year, I had a blast with his Thomas Party as he turned two. I had tried to have a new fun theme- maybe Curious George or Mickey Mouse but Rosie and Thomas are still his BFF trains. He said confidently, “I want a Rosie-Thomas party with pink and purple and blue balloons”. I asked him several times to be sure. He was sure. You got it, kid. Trains again.
I made Isaac’s cupcakes and added the decor myself. I recalled some theme decor that a dessert vendor used at an event I’s thrown at work. I knew I could play on that. Best thing about it? I already had the supplies at home. OK, get ready to write this down. For decor you will need: stickers and toothpicks.
Seriously? This was too easy and made a big impression on my birthday boy!
Difficult instructions:
1. Lay sticker upside-down
2. Place toothpick on top
3. Place a 2nd sticker to hold the toothpick in place.
The turned out pretty cute, huh? Each was unique and the kids picked their own.
Very little work. No money. Big impact. In fact Isaac was talking about his Thomas cupcakes while reading a book today. I will definitely be using this strategy again.
