About the Parsha
In BaMidbar we read about the travels and encampments of Bnei Yisrael (the children of Israel) in the desert. The order in which the tribes set up their camps surrounding the Mishkan (the Tabernacle) is specifically detailed.
About the Dessert
The flags and tents represent the 12 tribes’ camps in the desert.
The base is a pan of brownies (recipe here).
The flags are made of rectangular cookies (store-bought biscuits can be used) decorated with a coat of melted white chocolate. Once dried, dark chocolate is melted and piped to create the symbols of the various Tribes of Israel.
The skewers are adhered to the backs of the flags using melted chocolate.
The tents are made of the same rectangular cookies, attached to each other using melted chocolate. When hardened, coat the whole tent with melted dark chocolate.
The small flag is made by piping a small triangle onto the top of a toothpick, then hardening to adhere.
