Elephant Ears

Ingredients:

1 sheet frozen puff pastry
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tsps cinnamon (optional)
oil for spraying
flour

Instructions:

Defrost the puff pastry. (Don’t let it get too soft.)
Dust a work surface with flour. (Some recipes instruct to dust the surface with sugar.)
Lay the pastry rectangle flat on the surface.
Spray oil all over the pastry dough.
In a bowl, mix the sugar and the cinnamon (if using).
Sprinkle the sugar mixture evenly all over the oiled dough.
Beginning from both sides, roll the dough inward toward the middle. Stop when the two rolls meet in the middle.
With a sharp knife, cut the log in 1/2-inch slices.
Lay each slice on a baking sheet.
Bake at 180 c / 350 f for 10-15 minutes, until the cookies are a golden brown color.

Note: To make the heart shape, form the cookies according to the instructions. After laying them on the baking tray (before baking), pinch the bottom of each cookie to form a point. This creates a heart shape.
