About the Parsha
In VaYelech we read about the Mitzvah (commandment) of Hak’hel (“gather”): Once every seven years, the entire people of Israel —men, women and children—will gather at the Temple in Jerusalem, and the king will read to them from the Torah.
About the Dessert
This depiction of Hak’hel is a rectangular cake covered in ganache (recipe here).
The “people” are made of wafer rolls, broken to different sizes and stuck into the cake.
The “king” came from a search of the toy bin…
The pedestal is a wafer coated with ganache.
