About the Parsha
In VaYera, three angels appear to Avraham (Abraham) and Sarah and, among other things, tell them that they will have a son. When Sarah hears this, she laughs, as she is already quite old. (Of course, this prophesy indeed comes to pass.)
About the Dessert
My son had the idea to make laughing emoji cupcakes to represent Sarah’s laughter at the news.
Make cupcakes in individual cups.
Make a batch of white royal icing (recipe here).
Pour half the icing in a separate bowl. Add yellow food coloring.
Coat each cupcake in yellow icing. Allow to harden.
Take a few spoons of icing into 2 separate bowls. Add blue food coloring to one and black to the other.
Place white, black and blue icing in piping bags or baggies with the corner snipped off.
Pipe the design of a laughing emoji on each cupcake.
